What is GPM?

GPM stands for "gallons per minute". It is a unit of measurement used to indicate the flow rate of a liquid, typically water, through a plumbing fixture such as a faucet or showerhead. The GPM value is an important consideration when selecting fixtures, as it can affect the water pressure and overall performance of the plumbing system.

What is the spout reach?

Spout reach refers to the horizontal distance between the base of a faucet or the wall and the furthest point of the spout where the water comes out. This measurement is important in determining how far the water will reach into the sink or basin. It is typically measured in inches or millimeters. A longer spout reach can be useful for larger sinks or for filling containers that may not fit comfortably under a shorter spout.

What is the difference between volume control cartridges and thermostatic cartridges?

Volume control cartridges control the amount of water flowing through a faucet and can turn the water on and off while the thermostatic cartridges are a component of mixing valves that combine hot and cold water to achieve the desired water temperature, They also prevent extremely hot water from scalding your skin.

Why is the water pressure in my faucet so low?

There are several possible reasons why the water pressure in your faucet may be low. Some common causes include:

  1. Mineral buildup: Over time, minerals such as calcium and magnesium can accumulate in the pipes and restrict water flow, resulting in reduced water pressure. This is a common issue in areas with hard water.
  2. Clogged aerator: The small screen on the end of your faucet, known as the aerator, can become clogged with debris or mineral buildup. This can restrict water flow and cause low water pressure.
  3. Leaks: If there is a leak in your plumbing system, it can reduce water pressure in your faucet. Check for visible leaks and inspect the pipes for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  4. Pressure regulator: Your home's water pressure regulator, which is typically located near the main water supply valve, can malfunction and cause low water pressure.
  5. Municipal water supply issues: Sometimes, low water pressure is due to issues with the municipal water supply, such as maintenance work or water main breaks.

To determine the cause of low water pressure in your faucet, you may need to contact a plumber or your local water authority. They can help diagnose the problem and suggest the appropriate solution.
